A suite of tests for the line-out can be used for headphone or speaker output if in this mode it is possible to use the device as a source for connecting an external amplifier or if such a test suite can give more information about the implementation of the DAC in the device.

Sony, как и Creative сами делают свои чипы (большими тиражами) и потом их пихают туда, где стоило бы использовать что-то более качественное, от того, что свое дешевле и зачем-то все же сделано...
Я к тому, что там как раз должен быть реализован полный D-класс, когда PCM-поток преобразуется нужным образом и модулирует сигнал выходного каскада, после чего идёт пассивный ФНЧ и, собственно, всё. Там не все так просто, как в рекламе :) Я постепенно готовлю серию материалов по тому, как работают современные ЦАП на самом деле, а не так, как это представляется в аудио сообществах.
Дело в том, что в аудио сообществах преобразование PCM в DSD разбирается с точки зрения программного алгоритма, а не как это физически работает. И отсюда становятся неочевидными часть вещей, или вовсе неверное представление, как это работает.
Пока кратко скажу, что делать усиление напрямую на уровне ключей в ЦАП - это эффективность энергопотребления будет близка как аналоговом классе А. Такое в массовый портатив ставить, это полный провал. Экономия энергии достигается в PWM или аналоговом D классе, а не DSD, в котором работают дельта-сигма.
Это свой путь самурая. Интересно, в A55 как-то улучшилась ситуация? До недавнего времени с ним гонял, но каких-то особых проблем со звуком не замечал, если не считать слабого выхода.
