About maximum voltage levels of the load

To compare the amplifiers for loudness from the impedance, set the required impedance value.

Why is the "volume" expressed in dBV

When you compare amplifiers by loudness, the voltage value, expressed in dBV, should be used. The difference in voltage will show the difference in decibel (dB) between the amplifiers.

The power values in regular mW do not convenient to direct comparison.

The direct comparison by power is only suitable for speaker amplifiers operating with an ultra-low-ohm load. This does not apply to headphone amplifiers where the headphone resistance is higher than 8-16 ohms.

Because of the higher resistance of the headphones, when compare the volume of a musical signal it is necessary to simultaneously take into account the current and voltage limits. The speaker amplifier have limit by current. For the exact difference between the amplifiers in decibel, the power value must be converted into voltage in units of dBV, taking into account the margin by current for the music signal to 12 dB.

If made a comparison simply by power, then the error will reach up to 12 dB. When sorting by volume comparison, you can see that at the same volume values in dBV, the power values in mW will be different.

Рекомендации составлены для среднего уровня громкости при прослушивании музыки в 90 дБ SPL c учетом неравномерности громкости по музыкальному треку в виде пик-фактора в 20 дБ. Если Вам нужен анализ для другого звукового давления, или для определенной музыки с иным пик-фактором, задайте в настройках альтернативные значения для "Desired SPL sound pressure level when listening to music" и "Peak factor in the unevenness of the music volume". По умолчанию параметры не учитывают окружающую обстановку или шумоизоляцию наушников, предполагая, что прослушивание производится днем качественной не перекомпрессированной музыки. При анализе прослушивания музыки ночью в спокойной обстановке, стоит уменьшить звуковое давление на 12-15 дБ.

Выше на графике показаны зоны напряжения от нагрузки. Для наушников высчитывается необходимое напряжение, которое должно быть на выходе усилителя и оценивается с тем напряжением, которое может усилитель выдать. Если усилитель способен выдать большее напряжение, то высчитывается дополнительный запас по прибавке громкости или указывается, насколько громкости может не хватить. Аналогично считается и запас по регулировке громкости вниз. В большинстве случаев, при снижении громкости снижается и параметр сигнал/шум, из-за чего становится слышимым фоновый шум. При использовании аналоговых регуляторов в минимальных положениях часто наблюдается дисбаланс каналов. Диапазон регулировки громкости установлен как дБ. Если Вам известно, что устройство обладает более высокими соотношением сигнал-шум, или использует качественную реализацию регулировки громкости через реле, то увеличьте в настройках параметр "Optimal range of volume control".


Рекомендации описывают график. На графике по горизонтали отображена ось сопротивлений подключаемых наушников. По вертикали ось напряжения на выходе усилителя в единицах dBV. Точками на графике отображается необходимое напряжение для наушников для заданного звукового давления. В самом лучшем случае точка должна быть в середине по вертикали голубой зоны.

Голубая зона является наиболее качественным режимом усилителя.

Привильно ли понимаю, что для HD650 этого плеера хватит, а для DT880 нет?

Привильно ли понимаю, что для HD650 этого плеера хватит, а для DT880 нет?


График показывает, что для общего случая C4 Pro хватит для HD650 без запаса по громкости, а для DT 880 Pro желателен источник на 2.5 дБ громче.

Но для своего случая надо выбрать знакомые наушники со знакомым источником и выяснить, какая для себя громкость является оптимальной или достаточной. И эту громкость уже сопоставить с HD650/DT 880 Pro и C4 Pro.
